University Club's Annual Poker Night

Every year the University Club, sometimes referred to as the Riviera Mansion, has its annual Poker Night Fundraiser. This year we had the pleasure of photographing this great event held this past weekend. It was a night filled with singing, dancing, and of course, gambling!

As guests flooded the entrance, a lounge singer and piano player greeted the guests with Rat Pack style songs. However, the other entrance attraction was the Las Vegas style showgirls with their beautiful feathers and sparkling dresses, managed to show up even the best of their tunes. With guests clambering for a photo-op, they had their hands full. Yet, they too were given a run for their money as an Elvis impersonator rounded the crowd singing famous Elvis tribute song like "Leavin' Las Vegas".

Yet the reason they were all there was the big draw of gambling. All in fun of course! The money spent bought tickets for chips and those winnings were in turn "cashed in" for raffle tickets to win prizes. All proceeds benefited the University Club which has been a Santa Barbara historic landmark for decades.

Roulette tables, Blackjack, Craps, and Texas Hold 'em definitely kept the crowd busy. While the dice rolled and the cards fell, the guests enjoyed beverages and hor d'oeuvres. However, by night's end, the party had really just begun as DJ Gavin Roy spun the beats that kept the night alive 'til midnight.

As guests gambled, drink, danced and took photos with showgirls and an Elvis impersonator, it was very easy to have mistaken the night for just another in Vegas. Yet, at the end of the night it had all the comforts of Santa Barbara.

The Annual Poker Night was wild and fun and we would like to thank the University Club for allowing us to be a part of it.
